41 days!

That’s the time between the day I found out that my apartment’s rent would be increasing by 60% and the day I closed on my very first condo.  There were some rather stressful days in-between regarding mortgages and the approval thereof, but I made it through, thanks in no small part to my awesome realtor.

There are still half-emptied boxes and Rubbermaid containers lying about, but the books are (double-stacked) on the shelves, and I have my reading nook and my tea paraphernalia in place, so it’s starting to feel like home.  Now I just need to work up the nerve to put nails into my walls and hang some of my pictures.

So, let’s get right back down to business.  A February check-in on my Bookish Goals for 2013:

1.) Read 100 books in 2013

Bad Cate! Only 2 books read.

According to the Reading Challenge Tracker on Goodreads, this means I’m 6 books behind. I’m not too disheartened, however, as I should pick up speed now that I’m settled.  In the last 24 hours, I’ve blitzed my way through two-thirds of The Great Gatsby and several more chapters of Anna Karenina.

2.) Finish the tomes I started last year. (Anna Karenina, Les Misérables & Moby Dick)

Making (relative) progress.  Since Moby Dick and Les Mis are re-reads, they’ve been put aside until Anna is done.

3.) Read all the books for the kids/teen book clubs at the store.

Behind on these as well.  I need to finish The Search for WondLa by Tony DiTerlizzi and read I’ll Be Watching by Pamela Porter.  As of tomorrow, I’ll also be down The Lemonade War by Jacqueline Davies.  Again, I should catch up now things are settled.

4.) Read at least one ARC a month

Missed, but I’ll try to read two in February to make up for it.

5.) Read at least ten pages over my morning cup of tea before I check email or surf the web.

Generally not done well, but there’s been a vast improvement in the last couple of days.

6.) Get reviews posted within three days of finishing the book.

Yes!  (Okay, once, I might have let it go four days.)

N.B.: I have two more days to put up my review of Sidetracked Home Executives by Pam Young and Peggy Jones.

7.) Get my Goodreads account up-to-date.

Haven’t touched this one yet, but there are still 11 months to go.

8.) Ditto the review archive on this blog.

Ditto.

9.) Be more consistent in my harassment of Jill and shelterdowns to give me reviews for  this blog.

Jill, at least, seems to be harassing herself.  Look for more of her reviews soon.  Must get to work on shelterdowns.

10.) Turn off the computer and read.

But…but…have you seen the latest Lizzie Bennet vlog?  The flirting and then…Lydia…but then there’s the touching!  Aggh!  So many feelings, must watch it twenty times to analyze every moment!
